This week I discovered what happened to the Leist girls following the death of their mother in 1916.

Instagram post 2193052642861738013_4643075249 Thinking about my great-grandma Rose May #Jones on her 108th birthday today. She was born in 1911 in #PickawayCounty #Ohio to Lewis Jones & Mary Elizabeth #Eccard She married Glenn #Stewart in 1927 and then Leonard #Hochmuth in 1981. We were very fortunate to have her with us for so long in our lives; she passed away in 1999 at the age of 88.
I love this picture of us at my graduation in 1992 but my best memory of her though is when she was holding my newborn son for the first time and asked his name. When I told her his name was Noah, she positively lit up and told me her great-grandfather was also named Noah. She never met her great-father as Noah Eccard died in 1893 but she was just so tickled that they shared a name.

Instagram post 2187441314933942407_4643075249 This is where I was supposed to be two days ago for #nanowrimo2019 and last night I hit 41,000. I’m exhausted and just frankly out of steam. I want to finish but I’m more interested right now in eating my Thanksgiving dinner and watching our family Harry Potter marathon. #nanowrimowoes
Instagram post 2187204489916531592_4643075249 Juliet has perfected her food coma face in time for Thanksgiving! We were not able to make it home to Ohio this year for the holiday, so we’re having a low key day here in NY. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope you have a great day with your family, friends, and loved ones. Make memories!
Instagram post 2178827397143821418_4643075249 I haven’t had time to post or reply to anyone or anything here recently. I miss ya’ll! I’m currently stuck in @nanowrimo land being pummeled by bouts of writer’s block! December 1st can’t come soon enough! I’m tired! If you’re curious, I’m behind where I should be slightly. I’m at 26,962/50,000 words. #nanowrimo #nanowrimo2019 #writerswoes #writersgottawrite
Instagram post 2168511304181451633_4643075249 I really did! I’m 3,500+ words into my 50,000 goal in one month. Super excited to be participating this year.

Instagram post 2166411760135573116_4643075249 #Cinderella apparently did find her prince and married him in 1866 in #Springfield #Maine . Scrolling through un-indexed images last night on #FamilySearch and this gem from 1866 for William #Lowell and Cinderella #Lewis jumped out at me! This is the first Cinderella name I've seen. I wonder if her grandchildren speculated if she was the one from the book! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀

Instagram post 2163989388817028278_4643075249 Today would have been my maternal grandparents 68th wedding anniversary. Clara Louise #Peters married Glenn Archer #Stewart at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in #AshvilleOH where she would spend the majority of her adult life as the organist. We held their 50th anniversary party there before she passed away. My parents & my aunt/uncle were also married in that church and I was baptized there too! #stewartfamily #petersfamily #genealogy #familyhistory #pickawaycounty
Instagram post 2162675393988382665_4643075249 Oh my ❤️! This sweet picture is of my great grandfather and his little brother Dale #Stewart. Their parents were involved in a murder suicide in 1914 in #Caldwell in #NobleCounty #Ohio . The boys, aged 7 and 4, were placed in the children’s home system. This picture must have been taken shortly before their parents died judging by their ages. I had never seen this before and when my cousin sent it over yesterday, my heart just melted. Such sweet faces endured such a hard life with no parents to guide them. #stewartgenealogy #stewartfamily #noblecountygenealogy #ohiogenealogy #genealogy #familyhistory

Instagram post 2157556689979594344_4643075249 Oh my goodness! Who wouldn't want a cute little planter pocket built into their #headstone and filled with #succulents? The large stone Terry headstone at the #Highlands #Cemetery in #MarlboroNY was just too nifty not to share.
Instagram post 2153131849065879887_4643075249 Beautiful day for a #cemetery stroll. Out and about early this morning at the #Washingtonville Cemetery arranging for a tree to be cut down to remove a #headstone that’s been lodged in there! One of my #genealogy students does landscaping and the headstone in question belongs to the builder of his historic home!
